Vansjø demo site community engagement day

On 6 June 2026, FutureLakes is organising Vansjø-dagen in Nesparken, Norway. The event brings together researchers, local authorities, organisations and the public for a community engagement day dedicated to lake ecosystems and their protection. It is a great opportunity to showcase the Vansjø demo site and highlight how FutureLakes works in practice.

The programme combines expert knowledge with hands-on activities, including species hunts, workshops and talks on water quality and lake management. Participants can explore biodiversity, learn how scientists assess ecological condition, and try tools for citizen-based environmental monitoring. Vansjø-day is organised in collaboration with NIVA, Moss kommune, vannområde Morsa, BirdLife, Norsk entomologisk forening, Jeger- og Fiskerforbundet i Østfold, Norsk Zoologisk forening and Østfold botaniske forening.

By bringing science closer to people, the event demonstrates how local engagement, shared knowledge and innovative approaches—central to FutureLakes—can strengthen the protection and restoration of Europe’s lakes.
