As part of the FutureLakes Blueprint for lake restoration, we are evaluating best-practice and innovations to enhance governance and increase public engagement, including establishing citizen science activities to monitor the health and safe use of lakes.
FutureLakes is evaluating 10 innovative solutions to progress lake restoration. This includes investigating how rainwater gardens could help reduce the discharge of untreated sewage from Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) and whole-lake demonstrations to recover phosphorus from lake sediments.
We will develop best-practice guidelines on policies and green financing options that support implementation of nature restoration measures and help develop and establish the blue economy in and around lakes.
