Financing Nature-based Solutions: Join the upcoming EU Green Webinar on scaling investment for biodiversity and climate resilience

On 23 June 2026 (14:00–15:45 CEST), the EU Green Webinar will bring together leading European projects and experts to explore how Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can unlock new financing pathways and accelerate the transition towards a nature-positive economy.

The EU Green Webinar will bring together leading European projects and experts to explore how Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can unlock new financing pathways and accelerate the transition towards a nature-positive economy. The EU Green Webinar is co-organised by CARDIMED, NURISH and FutureLakes

Titled “Financing Nature-based Solutions: Pathways to scalable biodiversity restoration and Nature-based Entrepreneurship”, the webinar will showcase lessons learned and future perspectives from a cluster of Horizon Europe projects, including CARDIMEDNURISHFutureLakesNATURANCE and MERLIN. The session aims to foster dialogue between policymakers, practitioners, financial actors and researchers working at the intersection of climate resilience, biodiversity and sustainable finance.

The webinar will be moderated by Najla Kamergi, Project Manager at SEMIDE (CARDIMED & FutureLakes), and Alexandra Tsatsou, Senior Researcher at NTUA (NURISH & CARDIMED).

Speakers will include:

  • Antonia Lorenzo, CEO and R&D&I Director at BIOAZUL
  • Amelia Heath, Director at Forth Rivers Trust
  • Tom Brown, Senior Programme Manager at LENs Co
  • Jaroslav Mysiak, Principal Scientist at CMCC Foundation
  • Eleni Mitsea, Manager at Strategic Planning Sector at Break Even Consulting
  • Georgia Frakolaki, Chemical Engineer at BreakEven
  • Yulia Demus, Project Manager at CONNECTOLOGY

Nature-based Solutions are increasingly recognised as essential tools for restoring ecosystems and addressing climate challenges. However, their large-scale implementation remains limited, often hindered by fragmented and insufficient financing structures. This webinar will directly address this gap by exploring how innovative financing mechanisms, ranging from public and private investments to blended finance approaches, can help mobilise resources and scale impact.

Through a series of expert presentations and real-world case studies, participants will gain insights into how NbS can deliver both environmental and economic value. The programme will highlight, among others, the cost-effectiveness of NbS in urban infrastructure, the implementation of Landscape Enterprise Networks in Scotland, and the role of ecosystem restoration in insurance risk management. It will also present concrete opportunities for accessing funding and innovative financing tools supporting ecosystem restoration and climate resilience.

Beyond financial instruments, the webinar will place strong emphasis on capacity building and entrepreneurship, showcasing how local authorities and Nature-based enterprises can better navigate funding opportunities at EU and national level, while contributing to the growth of a Nature-based Economy. By bringing together diverse perspectives, the session aims to provide participants with practical knowledge and actionable insights to build investor confidence and scale up investment in nature.

The webinar will be held online and is expected to gather between 50 and 150 participants from across Europe and beyond. It is particularly relevant for policymakers, researchers, local and regional authorities, and financial institutions interested in advancing climate adaptation and biodiversity restoration through innovative funding approaches.
